Workshops for Schools

I offer creative writing and resilience workshops for Primary School students. If you are interested in having me talk at your school, see the workshops below then send me a message.

Background

After serving in the RAAF for a decade, I joined Disaster Relief Australia to continue my passion for helping others. Throughout my military career, I developed deep experience in leadership, resilience, and operational problem solving.

Today’s students face a barrage of distractions, competing pressures, and the chaos of digital life. Yet they are still expected to achieve, focus, and plan for their futures — often without being given the right tools.

Based on my experiences in Defence, Disaster  Relief Australia and as an author, I have developed two interactive workshops, one to develop resilience in students and help them work through failure, and one to help students realise the wonder of story-telling and create their own stories.

Through Adversity (45 mins)

An energetic, interactive talk focusing on resilience, problem solving, and overcoming challenges. Delivered kinaesthetically, visually, and auditorily to engage all types of learners.

Outcome:
Students will identify a personal project and develop a forward plan to navigate potential obstacles.

Suggested Audience: Years 5 – 6

Creative Writing Workshop (45 mins)

A fun and interactive workshop that brings students ideas to life. Starting by combining two ideas from the students to create an end state and then working backwards to develop the story.

Outcome:
Students will create their own unique story with a partner that has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Suggested Audience: Years 3 – 4
